Setting
map passwd uidNumber uidNumber
should be a no-op and could be a bug in nss-pam-ldapd. A quick review of
the code doesn't turn up anything and I'm not seeing this anywhere else.
Can you reproduce this with 0.8.12?
If you run nslcd -d -d (or even with another -d) can you post the output
of the relevant search?
