Which pam_ldap are you using? The versions packaged in 6.5 use nslcd
for user information and the older pam_ldap for password checking, but
this isn't the version of the nss-pam-ldapd package that was in that
release.
The log doesn't suggest that nslcd's receiving any requests from its
version of pam_ldap, at least.
