Thanks for the pointer Nalin, I kept looking for nss-pam-ldapd problem what i didnt check was that the issue was with pam_ldap. This post helped

And i figured how to fix the problem thanks. Had to remove pam_ldap rpm and create a symlink from

 

ln -s /lib/securtiy/pam_ldap.so /lib64/security/pam_ldap.so
