First of all, 1.0.7 is pretty old. The latest version is 1.0.24 which
includes numerous fixes, mostly related to portability, support for
modern Linux C libraries and fixes for cvsd-buildroot. It should not
contain any big changes that could cause regressions.
As such running a recent version is cvsd is highly recommended and there
is a change that the issue you are seeing has been fixed already.

This may not be what you want and will only work with

if carter.espersunited.com resolves to 127.0.0.1. If the above is not
the case, you may end up at another pserver instance (perhaps one that
is configured in inted.conf or xined.conf).
Furthermore, there is a cvsd-buginfo script that should provide you with
a lot of useful information and help with common configuration problems.
